When people began talking about Windows 7, especially within the last week or two, I listened to what they had to say, secretly thinking, “No way. I’m not going to upgrade the first week it launches like I did with Vista.” First, I decided to read about other people’s experiences just to see how it was received.

This is what Mashable.com’s blogger, Stan Schroeder had to say about it:

“I’ve been testing Windows 7 since the first beta and while I have my qualms about it, one can’t deny that it’s better than Vista: it feels faster, looks nicer, the unnecessary fat *cough* sidebar *cough* was trimmed and it has a whole lot better hardware and driver support. And one also cannot deny that Windows XP was released in October 2001, which means that Windows users have been waiting eight long years for a decent replacement for their operating system. Tomorrow, they’ll be getting one; no wonder they’re excited.”

I read another article by Brian X. Chen from Wired.com. He wrote a product review that was really impressive, and it really made me think. He even called it “Windows Lucky No. 7″.

So – here we are not even a week after Windows 7 was released, and last night I found myself debating on whether or not I should just take the leap and upgrade. After reading several reviews, posting a few tweets, and hearing what people had to say, I decided to go for it.

The upgrade took a LONG time, but from what I’ve seen, it’s definitely worth it. Here are some of the features that I like:

• Much faster
• Clean look and feel
• There are many ways you can arrange your windows on your screen to make yourself more productive



• When you have several programs open, the windows on the taskbar are no longer long boxes with text in them. Instead, they’re icons which creates more room.
• Interesting theme capabilities (for instance, you can change the window colors, have wallpapers that randomly rotate, etc.)
• Windows explorer now organizes media into “libraries” which you can organize any way you like, in addition to creating your own

I’ve had Windows 7 installed on my PC for less than a day and I’m already impressed. I’m sure I will discover new things I like about it each day, but for now the verdict is – YES. Download Windows 7 if you have the chance. You’ll be really glad you did.
