I’ve spent the last few years learning and sharing in tech communities. I’ve looked for other local leaders to share notes and to answer questions like “How do we grow our local talent pools?” Or “How do we find more local capital to invest in local companies?”
By looking at how other cities do it, we find unique yet similar approaches that we can try in our ecosystem.
One of those cities is Santa Barbara where they’ve had continued tech success through multiple billion-dollar exits, IPOs and re-investment. As I’ve spent time there over the last few years, we’ve discovered that our tech media approach could benefit the community there too. And so, we’ve launched Fresh Coast Tech with our first Santa Barbara and Central Coast tech newsletter!
A few commonalities between OC and SB are also around the talent that comes from our UCs, companies that have offices in both cities (Google, Procore and Amazon) and companies acquiring startups in both regions (LinkedIn, HP, Mad Engine and Microsoft).
