OC Tech Community Pride – 5/12/20

by Neal Bloom
Hi friends, how are you? Staying safe and sane?
First, a continued thank you to our frontline workers, especially the moms and a happy belated Mothers Day!
I’ve recently gotten the chance to get to know a new medical device venture studio in Orange County, Koa Accel. Koa is run by a brilliant team, including Ray Chan, who previously invested in a startup of mine, Francis Duhay, Sylvia Kim, and many more domain experts.
One of their first incubated companies is Kahala Biosciences which is developing a Covid-19 test sequencer able to process close to 400 patient tests an hour, greatly increasing our ability to mass test our communities. Keep an eye on both Koa and Kahala. Great to have this being developed right here in Orange County.
A lot to be proud of from our local ecosystem, which you can see in our updated blogs: How the OC science and tech community is battling Covid-19 and Regional support for local businesses and workers impacted by Covid-19
Stay safe and healthy,
Neal
